Inherited a traditional IRA from my mom who passed away in 2019. It was with Fidelity. I've been taking RMDs from 2020 through 2024. There wasn't too much in the account, so in October of 2024, I withdrew the remainder and closed the account with Fidelity. I had them send me a "Closed Account Verification Letter" because my statement never stated that the account was closed. I just received my 1099 R for that account. Box 2b is checked for Unable to determine the taxable amount but the box in 2b for Total Distribution is NOT checked. I called Fidelity and they said that they never check that box and that my account is definitely closed when looking at my accounts. He also said I should be fine for my tax return.
Is this a problem for my tax return? Will it be a problem in Turbotax? Has anyone else dealt with a similar issue?
