TurboTax saves returns for seven years. Have you saved copies of your returns for yourself? Have you saved your returns as pdf's?
SAVE YOUR TAX RETURN !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

Hi!
Thank you for taking the time to look into this!
I was having trouble locating any information and could only make an assumption. An assumption with taxes is never a good thing.
Yes, I will always download a copy as a pdf for myself immediately after submitting my return. However, I did not know about the data file until you brought it to my attention. I'll be sure to store these data files as soon as I can.
Thank you again for taking the time to look into this!
When you log in this year the first thing you see is the notice about the FREE FILE change and you are given the option to try one of the other FREE FILE alliance options or continue with the TT program. If you stay with TT then your next option is to transfer the prior year data ... read the screens carefully ...
Turbotax Online will still offer "free to start" and "free simple" returns, but they aren't participating in the IRS program to free file more complex returns.
Download your tax return PDFs and your data files for past returns as soon as you can. In the past, the policy was that past year returns became locked after a certain time unless you paid an upgrade fee for the current year. They were talking about changing that policy but I don't know if it actually happened.
