I took money out of my retirement in 2020 under covid and was wondering if I have to file my 1099R this time or can I wait to file it on my next return

You will get a 2020 form 1099-R ... failure to report it on the 2020 return will get you an IRS letter for sure ... even if you will repay the distribution in the next 3 years or defer the taxes over the next 3 years you must report it on the 2020 return ... they even have a new form for this situation.
