On previous post just now, note that we are retired & have very little income, 99% from Social Security. We did it right, can't afford to have our refund withheld.Help!!?

Addendum to previous question re mistake on IRS part. We did our taxes & filed them the first time it was possible because we sorely need the refund in order to pay for my upcoming surgery. Could it be retaliation due to politics? We've never had a problem with this before. We supported various Republicans during the election, and now they "accidentally" put something different on line 64 than what Turbo Tax entered. They are intentionally withholding our lawful tax refund, and we have no recourse. They demanded that we send in all of our W-2s and 99s, and then said it would take at least 8 weeks to get any results. TT took a look and said that the IRS entered the amount of $7,500,000 on line 64 instead of what TT had entered on the form that was electronically filed. The only deductions we claimed were the income taxes withheld from our Social Security and one payment of $984. Does anyone out there have a similar situation and what was the solution?

I suggest contacting the taxpayer advocate group. If you have submitted your documents and tried to get your refund with the IRS, and not having the money is causing you a financial hardship (your upcoming surgery), the Taxpayer Advocate Service may be able to help.
