I have three grandchildren that I contribute to a college contribution fund. Do I receive child tax credit?

The Child Tax Credit is for the parents who can claim children under 17 years old as dependents.

Depending on the state you live in, however, you may be able to take a tax deduction for your contribution to a 529 college savings account. If you respond with which state you are in, I can give you more information.

Total contribution is about 1k to retirement via my work. Do I need a separate form for deductions on that money, or is it included in box G-12 on my W2? Different? Same?
