You don't need to enter boxes 2, 3, or 4 in TurboTax; only what's in box 5 as VolvoGirl mentioned. This is the screen that you should be entering your SSA-1099 information on:
For instructions, refer to TurboTax article Where do I enter an SSA-1099?
My Box 3 is for less money than Box 5. They actually paid me and I actually received what is in Box 3 but they are asking me to report the higher amount in Box 5.
I understand.
SSA is withholding money from. me for an 'overpayment'.
Simply put, I already paid tax on the overpayment; now they want me to pay tax on it again.
I'm getting triple taxed!
It depends. The most social security income that can be taxed in any year is 85%. However many times it's less than that or even zero. There are a few things you would need to do to see if you are allowed to reduce your income or take a credit. Regardless the full amount of Box 5 must be entered in your SSA-1099 entry in TurboTax.
Once you have reviewed this information and your tax returns please update here with any details and we will help.
Today, a CX trying to enter SSA-1099 data for her aged mother, could not access any SSA -1099 input fields.
The TTD was fully updated. The input fields simply did not appear.
A lead instructed us to input values directly onto the tax form.
This lack of input fields is probably a bug, particularly from the customer's perspective.
