Please follow these steps to enter your qualified charitable distribution:

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click on the Search box on the top and type “1099-R”
  3. Click on “Jump to 1099-R” and enter all your information
  4. Continue until "Tell us if any of these uncommon situations apply" screen and check "I transferred all or part of this money directly to charity"
  5. Continue through the questions

Generally, a qualified charitable distribution is an otherwise taxable distribution from an IRA (other than an ongoing SEP or SIMPLE IRA) owned by an individual who is age 70½ or over that is paid directly from the IRA to a qualified charity.

You can check your entry on line 4 of Form 1040  the taxable amount should be $0 if the full distribution was donated and it will say "QCD" next to this line:

  1. Click on "Tax Tools" in the left menu
  2. Click "Tools"
  3. Click "View Tax Summary" in the Tool Center window
  4. Click on "Preview my 1040" on the left
