I have a 1099-s. I follow all the steps for the 1099-s and after inputting all the information and saving it ALWAYS comes up as a 1099-b no matter what.

Please clarify – what type of real estate transaction does your Form 1099-S reflect?

Is it:

  • Sale of your main home,
  • Sale of a second home, an inherited home, or land,
  • Sale of standing timber, or
  • Sale of a rental property?

There are different ways of inputting Form 1099-S data, depending on the type of transaction, and knowing this will be helpful in providing an answer.

Please see the TurboTax Help article Where do I enter Form 1099-S? for more information.

that's how it works.

there is no explicit panel to enter 1099-S and it doesn't show as such on your tax return
