I had to re-enter a 1099R because I felt I made a mistake. I deleted it and entered it again. The 1st it asked for the RMD information but not the 2nd time. Any idea why?

This is for an inherited IRA and I entered all the information the exact same way and I was expecting to get the RMD questions again.

The second time you entered your 1099-R, did you indicate that it was an 'inherited' RMD?

Did you check the 'IRA' box when entering the 1099-R?  You won't get the RMD question if not.

The distribution is taxed at your regular tax rate in any event.

Here's detailed info on Inherited IRA's.

Thanks for your reply. I did select the IRA/SIMPLE/SEP box and also selected the inherited box. Today, it's now telling me I selected my RMD is zero when it didn't give me the chance to enter the correct information after deleting them. Should I try to delete it again and re-enter? Or is there a way to get to the questions about the RMD again? There was an RMD amount so it shouldn't be zero.

If you selected 'all of this distribution was RMD', then you won't be asked the RMD amount.  If this applies, you could file your return like that, as you did take the required RMD.

If you select 'part of this distribution was RMD' then you'll be asked what the RMD amount was.

You could delete/re-enter again.  If you're using TurboTax Online, close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies and return to that section.

I am using the online version, I cleared my cache and cookies then deleted and re-entered the 1099-R and it didn't give me the RMD question from your screenshot. This was for someone who passed away. Any other ideas what could be causing this?

I think there might be a glitch, I went to tools and started the return over and it still didn't ask me if the withdrawal was an RMD and it went straight to this telling me my RMD is zero.

So you did not get the screen asking 'was all or part of this distribution RMD?'.

If not, why does TurboTax think your RMD was zero?  Did you enter another 1099-R where you were asked what your RMD was and entered 0?

Since we can't see your return in this forum, you can Contact TurboTax Support for more help.

It didn't give me that screen asking if all or part of the distribution was an RMD after the first time and support couldn't figure it out either. For some reason, it won't give me that question again. I am not sure why the system thinks it is $0, I have removed everything and added them again several times and even went into tools and deleted everything and restarted with no luck. I actually spoke with 3 different people yesterday with no resolution.
