I didn't receive a 1099-NEC, but I'm still being asked about it.

If this form does not apply to you, you can simply remove it from the program.  Here are the steps:

In TurboTax online version:

1.  Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off

2.  Select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow

3.  Select Tools

4.  Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form

5.  Select Delete next to the form 1099-NEC and a Schedule C ( if there is one) and Continue with My Return

One of the most common reasons you’d receive Form 1099-NEC (Form 1099-MISC in prior years) is if you're self-employed or did work as an independent contractor during the previous year. The IRS refers to this as “non employee compensation.”

I also didn't receive 2020 income from the business from which I was apparently supposed to receive a 1099-NEC, so I'm very confused--it won't let me file without this!

Was it a business you had last year?  If so, see How do I delete a prior-year Schedule C business that transferred over?    I too am a little confused.   Are you saying you should have received income from a company you do work for, but did not get paid?    If you are reporting a business (Schedule C) this year and need to remove the income 1099 entry for one company, but you don't want to remove your business, you can remove just that 1099.    Search for Schedule C (just like in the instructions in the link), but instead of deleting the entire Schedule C, EDIT the Schedule C, then EDIT the Self-Employment Income section, and from there, delete the 1099 that you are being prompted to enter.    You will see a delete button or use the small trash can icon next to that 1099.

Hi! Sorry I wasn't clear—I *think* it's referring to a business I worked for in 2019. I didn't work for that business in 2020, but the system seems to think I should have received a 1099-NEC from them, because it keeps asking me to fill out information from the 1099-NEC (that I don't have).

I tried following the instructions from the link you provided, but my "2020 Self-Employed Work Summary" screen is correct and up-to-date—there's nothing to delete. It seems like this old business I worked for is only popping up in Review, so I'm not sure where/how to delete it.

Hopefully that makes more sense! Thank you for your help!
