I didn't file a 1099

I filed my taxes about a week ago, and afterwards got a 1099 in the mail for prize winnings from the Perk app - apparently I made $612 so they needed to be filed. I am expected to receive a tax refund of about $4,000 - My question is, will the IRS now reject my return or just deduct whatever is supposed to be deducted from my refund? I know that they too got a copy from PERK of that 1099. Thanks

The IRS will probably not make any immediate adjustments for the missing 1099-MISC income. The will not reject your return. They will likely process your original return and send you the full refund. You need to make the changes to the original return if it is rejected for some reason or prepare, print and mail an amended return.

If your return is rejected by the IRS, you can correct the problem and fix the reason for rejection and re-efile your return. If your return is accepted by the IRS, you must prepare, print, sign and mail an amended tax return form 1040X to correct the problem.

DO NOT change your original tax return until you start the amended return. If you have already changed it from the way it was originally filed and accepted, you must change it back before you start the amended return. Wait until you receive the refund from your original return before beginning your amended return to make sure you enter the correct amount. The amended return form 1040X instructions will not be available in TurboTax until mid February.  An amended return cannot be efiled.
