I'm trying to set up IRA contributions for myself and husband. Turbo tax is adding our total income for my husband and will not allow his IRA. It will allow mine.

I have an error in turbo tax.  It is not separating my modified adjusted gross income to myself and spouse.  It is picking up all of our MAGI for my husband and none to me. (We both have w-2's)

I can see where that may change things. Pay particular attention to Box 13 on all your W-2s. Let us know if you need any help in the comment section.

He changed jobs last year and has two w-2's and I have one.  Turbo tax is adding his two  and my one w-2's to get his MAGI which will then not allow his IRA

He also had a 401K(Box 13 checked on one of his w-2's.  Box 13 was not checked on the other w-2's

If you didn't have Box 13 checked on YOUR W-2, the answer below should still stand. Let me know.

Go back to the W-2 screen. The most likely error is that you have identified your W-2 as being his

That's quite possible. If your husband is eligible to be enrolled in an employer sponsored retirement plan (401k, 403b, etc) then his traditional IRA contribution may be partially deductible or not deductible at all.

This depends on your income. If he is eligible, he must have adjusted gross income of $99,000 or less for married couples filing jointly for his to be contribution to be fully deductible with a phaseout a $119,000.

If you didn't participate in another retirement plan, but your spouse did, and you're Married Filing Jointly, the phase-out range is $186,000 – $196,000
