I am looking for detailed instructions on completing forms 8288 & 8288a

Forms 8288 and 8288-A are not supported in TurboTax. You cannot use TurboTax to prepare those forms. They are not part of your tax return. They have to be filed separately.

This is a fairly obscure area of tax law. If you are required to file Form 8288 you may wish to seek professional help.
