Since there's almost 2 dozen different varieties of "1099's" it always helps to actually specify WHAT 1099 you're talking about.
Assuming that the "1099" you're referring to is a 1099-MISC - the little piece of government-approved paper issued to "independent contractors" - then you'll file your income tax return using Form 1040. You'll need to use a Form 1040 because your income tax return will include Schedule C. Schedule C is where you report your independent contractor income and expenses and the "bottom line" of Schedule C will flow up to line 12 of the Form 1040 - "Business income or (loss)."
If you're dead-set on using the "online" version of TurboTax then you might need to move all the way up to the TurboTax Self-employed" version as that's the only version that supports a "full-blown" Schedule C. The lesser online versions for the last year or so only support a very limited version of Schedule C called "Schedule C-EZ" and, (if I'm remembering correctly), TurboTax doesn't allow any expenses against the independent contractor revenue to be entered.
In the desktop versions, all of them support a full-blown Schedule C, though the TurboTax Home & Business version has the most robust interview.
