You Must enter the Form 1099-R you received for the distribution in 2022
To enter, edit or delete a form 1099-R -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button
Or enter 1099-r in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1099-R
A 1099-R is issued from your pension plan. The RMD is not listed as such on that form or entered directly into your tax return. If you have a 1099-R from your pension plan, they should have distributed the correct amount of your RMD to you.
Usually, you should see a code 7 in box 7 on your Form 1099-R. If the distribution is for your RMD for the year, it will be treated as a normal distribution. The code 7 will be marked in Box 7 on your Form 1099-R. And, it will also be reported on a Form 5498 "IRA Contribution Information" where box 11 and 12 will be checked .You are not required to report this form to the IRS.
