Filling out the W4P for one pension

How can I complete the W4P form correctly in order to reduce taxes withheld from my pension?

Usually you choose a percent for the amount to be withheld. Have you looked at the W-4P?

Thank you for your response, but the W4P 2024 does not allow percentages. Should I claim dependent and other credit in Step 2 of the form?

For New York State, this year my pension was listed as a subtraction, but last year it was not. Has it changed? It's giving my a big refund, but I don't want to find out later it was a mistake.
