Filing Alabama state and Federal income taxes on social security

I file married filing jointly but my income is social security benefits and VA disability. I know that is not taxable but I earned $6,200 doing a part time job. Do I file?

Filing Alabama state and Federal income taxes on social security

You say that you are filing a joint return but have not mentioned what income your spouse had for 2024.  If you are filing a joint return with a spouse who had taxable income, then your SSA1099 and your W-2 from the job go on the joint return.  VA disability benefits are not taxable and do not get entered.

You need to file a federal return if half your Social Security plus your other income is

Single or Head of Household      $25,000

Married Filing Jointly                  $32,000

Married Filing Separately            $0
