Filed Recovery Rebate Credit ,and then received my $600 stimulus check days later after checking IRS site which said to file for the rebate based on my SSN

Hi all, I filed my Recovery Rebate Credit ,and then received my $600 stimulus check days later after checking IRS site which said to file for the rebate based on my SSN based on their tool online.

How do I go about this process now? I basically was given two $600 stimulus checks. Would this need to be amended in my 1040X form, or is there something else I would need to do? Not sure how I could "uncheck" the recovery rebate credit since my taxes were done through TurboTax Online.

Anything helps! Thanks!

You do not need to amend your return.  You can return to TurboTax program and make adjustment.  To see instructions, click here: Recover Rebate Credit update

The Recovery Rebate Credit is a credit that was authorized by the CARES Act.  If you were eligible for an Economic Impact payment, commonly referred to as a stimulus payment, but did not receive one or you received less than the full amount as an advanced payment in 2020 then you can claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 tax return.
