Fellowship income

I am trying to add fellowship income to my tax form but can't find where to do it. Last year, TurboTax had a prompt about if you were awarded a scholarship etc. and then listed how much was for tuition/books and how much was for room/board/etc. - this year I did not get this prompt and cannot find the correct section. (I did not receive a 1098 either because it is not required for this)

Via the IRS website (and previous 1040 from other years) I need to add this to line 8 of the 1040. Does anyone know where/how to do this?

Any suggestions I have found so far would require me to pay to file, although I didn't have to pay last year or any previous year.

Thanks!

To enter fellowship income  on sch 1, which goes to line 8 Form 1040, follow these steps:

First enter the income:
1. go to the federal income section
2. scroll to the bottom
3. Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, Start
4. Other income not already reported on a W2 or 1099, Start
5. Other wages? Yes
6. Household employee? Continue
7. Sick pay, continue, Medicaid, continue
8. Other Earned Income? Select Yes, continue
9. Source of income? Select Other
10. Enter description - Fellowship, enter your taxable amount
11. Continue

Thanks Amy, that is what I was trying previously. Unfortunately when I have tried to do this TurboTax wanted me to pay for the basic plan instead of the free option. Is there not a way this year to report this income without using the paid version of TurboTax?

A fake w2 is the equivalent if you have the information you could go that route. If the IRS asks, you can show the income was entered. Otherwise, I am out of thoughts.
