If you had money taken from your paychecks and deposited by your employer to a Designated Roth Account in the employer's 403(b) plan, yes, your W-2 from this employer should show the amount with code BB in box 12.  If it's missing, the employer needs to correct the W-2.  These contributions might affect your tax return if the contribution makes you eligible for a Retirement Savings Contributions Credit, so TurboTax needs to see the code BB entry on its W-2 form.

The code BB amount can also be helpful to identify any excess in combined elective deferrals and Roth contributions to all employer plans in which you participate for the year.

Box 12b?  That is just the box 12 label.   It can be in any box 12.  Box 12a-12d are just the box names.  There there will be a separate Code for the amount.

More directly, my question is, can box 12 be blank? It should have BB and then the amount, but the employer did not put the contributed amount to the Roth 403b. Does the employer have to correct the W-2?
