Cant file my taxes unless I upgrade to turbotax deluxe. I dont want to do that just want to delete info from the retirement contribution credit w/o starting over?

It says I have money towards the retirement savings contribution credit for 2020 even though I didnt and never put that in there. How do I delete that info so I can file my taxes without having to upgrade?

If you go back to the very beginning of that section of retirement income - follow it through to the end - there should be a item there that you can delete - there will be a trash can to the far right of this line item - just click on the trash can and then verify that you do want to delete this item.

If you entered a W-2 with a Code D in Box 12, that indicates you contributed to a Retirement Plan at work.

TurboTax automatically qualifies you for the Saver's Credit, based on your W-2 entry.

If you don't want to upgrade to Deluxe to claim the credit, go back to your W-2 entry and delete the Code D and amount in Box 12.

However, you may want to see if you qualify for the Free File Program, where you can file for free and still claim the Saver's Credit
