BOTH of our names are on ONE 1099-R.  The others have JUST one of our names on them.  The question is how do I enter the 1099-R that has two names?  The TT form for 1099-Rs only allows for one name.

To add an additional 1099 R in TurboTax Online:

  • Sign into your Online account
  • Next go to Federal Taxes
  • Then Wages and Income
  • Next you will see the screen that says "Your 1099-R Entries".
  • Underneath your first entry you should see a plus sign and then the words" Add another 1099-R", you would click and enter your second Form.

If you have more you would return to that page and click the plus sign to add each additional 1099-R Form.

Did you begin your joint return correctly so that your income can go under both names?

When you entered your own information in Personal Info, you would have to answer the question "Were you married?"  If you clicked the button for Married, then a drop down would appear that asks, "Do you want to file this return together with your spouse?"  Then you choose yes to file a joint return.  You would then enter your spouse's information into Personal Info.  Whenever you are entering income information there should then be a spot for you and for your spouse's income information.
