If you get a check bi weekly like an employee are you sure you are not an employee ? Should you be treated as an employee instead of a sub contractor ?
I normally find 20% is a good amount to cover your taxes on self-employment. Intuit offers QuickBooks which is an excellent tool for a self-employed person.
Once set up it tracks your income and expenses and makes recommendations when it sees that you are not putting enough into your quarterly payments. Each quarter, it reminds you of the payment to make and recommends an amount of estimated payment.
With the bundle package, you can import a QuickBooks file into your TurboTax that will essentially create your Schedule C when you file self-employment taxes.
