Annuity Taxability

This TT question about annuity taxability is my problem:

"For the years you received these distributions, was the total amount shown in the form the amount you paid tax on?"

The problem is there are several amounts shown on the form 1099-R.    Why not say the box 2a, The Taxable Amount.  Or is the Taxable Amount shown in box 2a the amount you paid tax on?  

That would certainly be more clear.   

Although since we don't know what goes on behind the scene in terms of the TT calculations it is hard for a TT customer to know for sure the correct answer

Yep...they screwed up the question this year......and it acts exactly as it did in the 2024 software ...IF...the edits shown below are followed. (i.e. if box 2a has a real value...somewhat lower than box 1 due to after-tax contributions you made)...then you need to answer YES.
