Annuity income 1099-R

I receive a small monthly annuity payment which totals $1,989 annually and have received Form 1099-R in the past for filing my taxes. I did not the receive the 1099-R for filing my 2020 taxes and the payor does not show any tax documents available for my account. Do I just list the income (without support) on my tax returns?

Yes, you can file a substitute 1099-R for the amount of the annuity payment although you should contact the payor to find out why one wasn't issued.

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Select Wages and Income
  3. Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  4. Select IRA, 401(k), Pension Plans (1099-R)>start
  5. When it says Let's import your information, indicate "change how I enter my form"
  6. Next screen asks How do you want to enter your 1099‑R? indicate you will type it in yourself.
  7. Next you will indicate the source of your payment.
  8. Look to see if you have past year's 1099R to get the information you need such as name and address of payer, ein, etc. You will need that to fill out the information
  9. Now you will fill out information in the next few screens until you get to a screen that asks, "Do any of these situations apply to you?" Here is where you will check Need to file a substitute 1099R
