- Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
- Select IRA, 401(k), Pension Plans (1099-R)>start
- When it says Let's import your information, indicate "change how I enter my form"
- Next screen asks How do you want to enter your 1099‑R? indicate you will type it in yourself.
- Next you will indicate the source of your payment.
- Look to see if you have past year's 1099R to get the information you need such as name and address of payer, ein, etc. You will need that to fill out the information
- Now you will fill out information in the next few screens until you get to a screen that asks, "Do any of these situations apply to you?" Here is where you will check Need to file a substitute 1099R
