No, you are never "required" to claim a dependent on your return. The decision to claim a dependent or not is one you should make after determining which choice is most beneficial for you.

Hi my return last year was rejected....my daughter claimed herself. But she amended so i could claim her.....so how can I resolve things so I get my return from last year....I claimed her as my dependent.....
