Although my charitable contributions put me over the 24K deduction threshold, why won't TurboTax add those contributions to my itemized dedcutions?

Go in to the Forms mode of TurboTax to review what is being allowed for your mortgage interest and taxes.  Be aware that state and local taxes are limited to $10,000 and this includes any state withholding taxes reported on your return.  Plus, charitable contributions are limited to 60% of your AGI for 2018 as well.  But Forms mode is a good way to actually see what is being allowed for itemized deduction amounts. 

If no Schedule A is listed, it means your total itemized is still under the standard amount.  In that instance, scroll down the list of the forms on the left hand side until you find the Tax History report as that form will show detail of what was entered/allowed as itemized so far, but will also show the standard deduction amount listed.  See the sample screenshot attached.
