199-R from State of VA

I received a 10-99-R from the VA Retirement system.  Box 7 is totally blank.  Turbo tax thinks it should be checked.  This is my pension from the VRS (Virginia Retirement System).  I get mostly payments.  I believe this is a normal distribution, but not sure.

Box 7 needs a code. The IRS also gets this form and they need to know how the treatment should be applied. Get a corrected form.

Your assumption would seem correct.  it does sound like a Code 7 Normal Distribution.  However, I suggest you contact your pension fund and confirm the code.  If it happened to you, it may have happened to others.
