I was in the military until October of this year. Since I am not currently in anymore, am I still able to use the military discount for filing this year?

Unfortunately, no. This is especially true if you have any other non-military reportable income for 2017.

Actually, even if you left the military by the end of the year, you can still qualify for the military discount if you served until October.
