Stationed in Texas. Washington state is state of residence. Own rental property in Arizona. Single income, just military member.
We have always used a tax expert, but want to do ourselves this year. Would TT be able to handle this scenario? I’ve been reading through help topics, and I am sure this scenario is listed, but curious if anyone could answer before I purchase.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
TurboTax can handle your situation. You have to file a non-resident AZ tax return, if you had rental income from your AZ property. Rental income from a property located in AZ is taxable by AZ. The fact that you are military doesn't change that. Military members are exempt from income tax in a non-resident state only on their military pay.
If your AZ property produced income, in the My Info section, select WA as your state of residence and then indicate that you had other state income from AZ. This will prompt the program to generate a non-resident AZ return.
Wow that was fast! Thanks so much.
