I am away for Basic training for the military and have not filed my taxes yet. I do not have a hold of my W2 since it is at home. What steps do I have to take to file?

You can efile until Oct. 16, 2023.  So just file your return as normal when you can.  You have 3 years to mail a tax return if you are getting a refund.

If you are in basic training, you will be done with that well before the April 15 filing deadline. So you can deal with this after you complete basic.
