Why is turbo tax using 39 years and not 27.5 years for asset depreciation?

I have chosen the asset type of Residential rental real estate. However, Turbo Tax 2020 is converting that to a 39 year depreciation when it should be 27.5 years.  It shows a MARCS Convention of MM and a depreciation method of SL when I click on show details. I first depreciated this asset on the Turbo Tax 2019 tax return. Is there anything I should check to fix this?

EDIT:

I had the correct asset category selected (Residential Rental) in Turbo Tax 2020. It turns out that I had the incorrect asset category in my 2019 form. 2019 had the Non-Residential Real Estate selected for this asset.  Turbo tax used the 39 years to depreciate even though I selected Residential Rental in 2020. I'm guessing that once you designate a number of years to depreciate in a prior tax year that changing the asset category will not change the number of years to depreciate an asset with Turbo Tax

I updated my 2019 form to Residential Rental and the 2020 form still chose to use the 39 years to depreciate. To resolve this I had to delete my 2020 form and I had to create a new form using the updated 2019 form. The new 2020 form now has the proper number of years to depreciate the asset. I guess this is NOT a bug. I would never have known of my mistake in my 2019 form if it wasn't for Turbo Tax choosing 39 years to depreciate regardless of the asset category for 2020. It looks like I know have a 2019 return to amend. Thanks for the help DJS!

I documented the above to assist anyone that runs into a similar issue. Note that I'm neither an accountant nor am I a lawyer so this should not be constituted as legal or tax advice.

Double check that this is being treated as Residential Real Estate.

Type of Property Method of Depreciation Useful Life in Years
Land Not allowed N/A
Residential rental real estate (buildings or structures and structural components) Straight line 27.5
Nonresidential rental real estate Straight line 39
Shrubbery, fences, etc. 150% declining balance 15
Furniture or appliances 200% declining balance 5
Answers are correct to the best of my ability but do not constitute legal or tax advice.
