Where do I include the monthly rent I pay for my home?

Your monthly rent is not deductible on your federal return, so you don't enter it anywhere.

However, there are renter's credits in one or more states. What state do you live in?

Rent you pay for your primary residence is not deductible on any tax return. However, some states have a "renter's credit" on the state tax return. If your state offers that, you won't deal with it or be asked about it until you get to the state return.
