Where do I enter short term and long term capital gains and losses ???
Listed below are the steps to enter information pertaining to Schedule D. Schedule D (Form 1040), Capital Gains and Losses. Use Schedule D (Form 1040) to report the following. The sale or exchange of a capital asset not reported on another form or schedule. Gains from involuntary conversions (other than from casualty or theft) of capital assets not held for business or profit.
In TurboTax Online Premier, click on the following tabs:
- Federal Taxes
- Wages & Income
- scroll down to Investment Income (you may have to click "Show more^" to expand this category
- Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other
- to the right of this category click Start or Revist
follow the screen prompts and answer the questions to enter your information on Schedule D
In TurboTax CD/Download Desktop Premier, click on the following tabs:
- FEDERAL TAXES
- Wages & Income
- I'll choose what I work on
- scroll down to Investment Income
- Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other
- to the right of this category click Start or Update
follow the screen prompts and answer the questions to enter your information on Schedule D
