Schedule E Days Rented

Under File Review says I need to fix the days rented, but will not let me change the personal use days.  I have not been able to use the help suggested on line, it does not work.  Very frustrating

Instead of utilizing the "jump to" feature, try going back to that section - the very beginning - and walk through the Schedule E questionnaire again as that should allow you to adjust the dates taking that route.

Days rented - The day count starts on the first day a renter "COULD" have moved in. Typically, this is your "in service" date, which is usually the day you put the FOR RENT sign in the front yard.

Days of personal use is the number of days you lived in the property WHILE IT WAS CLASSIFIED AS A RENTAL. Typcially, this will be ZERO days. What you did with the property before it was "in service" as a rental, or after you converted it back to personal use, *does* *not* *count* for anything.
