I have owned 3 different rental properties for the last 30 years. I have actively participated in all aspects of the properties. I sold my other business and now run the rental properties full time. I hace used Schedule E to report. Two years ago I purchased a run down vacation property and have spent the last two years remodeling the place. I used it strictly as a vacation rental property this past year. It will be used strictly as vacation rental property for the next couple of years and then I will split time between personal and vacation rental use. Should I use Schedule E, like I do for my other rentals, or should I use Schedule C for this property and any other vacation rental properties I acquire?

A vacation rental still goes on the Sch E unless you provide daily maid service or meals.
Thanks, I keep reading about vacation rental people using Schedule C, but from what I read in (IRS Publication 527 (2020) , Residential Rental Property) I thought Schedule E was appropriate also. Thanks for taking the time to respond to me question!😎
