RSU Vesting Date Error

I am trying to enter in stock sales but keep getting an error on the date.

Vesting date of 03/01/2017

Sold Date of 10/29/2020

When I put in all the information regarding the sale, Turbo tax returns an error for 1099-B employee stock worksheet part VI RSU Row 25 column C vesting date cannot be later than date sold.

Under part 1 of the worksheet, it is blank on the date sold, and is not editable.  But in the quick entry, it shows the date sold of 10/29/2020 like the above.  Anybody know how to correct this?

RSU Vesting Date Error

I am having the same error and can't clear it regardless of what I do. For some reason, I had a few RSU sales, and only one entry is is impacted. I entered three RSU sales in the same manner, but for one I keep getting the error message saying Line 22 Column (C) cannot be later than the date vested. The date entered clearly isn't later than the date vested, but it still registers as an error. I have entered multiple dates just to see if I can get the error clear, and no matter what dates I enter, I still get the error. Please advise?

The issue has been submitted and is currently under investigation.  To fix this, please manually enter your "Date acquired" info. You’ll then be able to continue through your return.  We are currently working to resolve this issue.  If you would like to receive an update for the progress, click on the following link to get notified:

Acquired date

The acquired date is important to define if the transaction is considered as long term or short term.  Any asset you hold for one year or less at the time of sale is considered “short term” by the IRS.  Capital assets that you hold for more than one year and then sell are classified as long-term on Schedule D and Form 8949.

RSU Vesting Date Error

The issue still exists. It prevents me from E-filing.

I manually entered acquired date. It still reports the same error. It is wasting a lot of time for this issue.

RSU Vesting Date Error

I have the same issue. The TurboTax kept sending me error messages on the grant date and the vested date. On Line 22 Column C, it kept saying the date can not be later than the date sold which is not true. The restricted stocks ware granted on 2012, vested on 2013 and sold on 2020. No matter how I tried to reenter, the error message was still there. This prevent me from e-filing my tax return. Wish this issue can be solved soon. It's almost May.

If you are confident that your tax return is correct, and the only thing that is preventing you from e-filing is certain errors on a Worksheet, you can try deleting the Worksheet and see if that eliminates the error message.  The Worksheet is not filed with your return.  Here are the steps to delete the Worksheet:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

Deleting the form does not work.  How do you fix this?

At this point, perhaps the only option is to report the RSU sale as a regular stock trade.  In connection with entering the RSU information, answer NO to 'Do these sales include any employee stock? ' which will avoid having to enter vesting info, stock sold for taxes, etc.

In the Sales info section when you choose the type of investment, select Stock (non-employee).  Continue to enter your information.  If you have to report the stock that was sold to cover the taxes, you can report such sale in the same manner.

It seems like there is a bug when the import happens.  I found a workaround with the help of someone in your support team to delete the stocks from imported 1099 and manually input the lots that had an issue.  You guys should be fixing this stuff earlier...
