To test it over the weekend I deliberately gave it a wrong password. The error message indicated such. So I knew there was something getting through to WFA. And I have never believed the too many F1099's or too many transactions or no password special characters excuses they've been giving. Those are just throw away responses to get you off the phone. Lol.
That's consistent with what my advisor told me he found out. That they're working on it and it's a known problem for WFA.
I just got off of the phone with a TT customer support person (she actually called me, because I put a neutral happy face on one of the feedback questions - they have to call everyone who does not do a full smiley face or a 7 or less on the final rating - NICE!).
She told me that TT and Wells Fargo Advisors are still working on this known issue and there is not a "fix" date yet.
Yes, they both know about the upload issue (not working) and they are trying to fix it.
If you are like me and you want to file your taxes by 2/28 to get the very nice discount ($20 off of Federal and $10 off of State), then you can call them right before you pay for the filing (if you cannot get them filed because of this issue) and get a "voucher" code to still get your discount.
What is this discount about? And a discount off a product?

I noticed. Sigh. But I did get an email from TT asking if I wanted to be kept updated of developments in the issue. At least they are FINALLY acknowledging it is their problem too!
What other tax software will import from the previous years TT??
As I said the other day, I have used TT every year since 1991, but I had the same problem with downloading last year and it appears to be worse this year - what is it going to be next year??
I know what you mean. I've used them since the early '90's. This is the first year I've had a problem. But as companies continue to beef up and update their security protocols I expect it will continue. At least until TT decides that they need to work with the firms to ensure compatibility each year.
Oooo. Software update for TT today. Guess what?! The import still doesn't work.
I was able to sign on to my WFA account and download my 1099s around Feb 6; but TT still said not available for import until the 17th. Still said that on the 16th, but on the 17th I was able to import them.
Wish I knew how you were able to do that..... Rest of us get blocked at the download screen.
I believe there is some confusion in terminology. "Download" from WFA is working fine. No one is trying to "upload." "Import" is not working.
Oh. Very good distinction. Tend to use the terms interchangeably. But a download and an upload which I think you can do on the.....online versions maybe? is a very different process than the import.
Import still does not work.
For the first time in all the years with TT, an update failed. Says that it is a critical update - tried everything and would not update. I am thinking about uninstalling TT and reinstalling it. Wondering if this update had anything to do with the importing?
