Thank you. I understand that. What I did not understand was the way the question was phrased and especially the answer choices given. Your response was absolutely clear. Why couldn't Intuit provide answer choices be as clear as your response? And further, unless you went to the NY State website, a clarification option of the question was not provided.
So we say no if I didn't rent out my property at all, right?
No. If no rental income was received, answer Yes.
The question is: was any rent you received for nonresidential use of your property 20% or less of your rental income during 2021? You would state Yes, nonresidential rent made up less than 20% of your rental income. If you state no, it is claiming that nonresidential rent was 20% or more of your rental income.
Why can't Turbotax just ask it that way? This is a poorly worded question and answers are confusing! Or how about first asking if you used it for rental income (if no, done, if yes, then you ask the next question?!)
Turbo Tax should provide the same clarifications given by NYS.
