That made no difference. I asked for interest only and still got the 1099B error.
I have to wonder how many copies of TurboTax Fidelity purchases for its clients or gives a discount. They didn't get their moneys worth this year.
This client has spent hours trying to get the import to work. I have talked to multiple Turbotax agents and the problem persists.
Fidelity Investments is a partner, and I was able to import last year. Fix the bug in TurboTax that is preventing the import, or I'll need to find another way to do my taxes.
If you are using TurboTax Online, you may want to try a different browser or try clearing out your browser's cache and cookies. Please see How do I delete cookies? and How to clear your cache for more information.
Please see What if I can't import my 1099? for instructions. Additionally, please keep in mind that if you are entering a Document ID it is case sensitive.
I tried deleting both the Fidelity and Turbotax cookies and history. No improvement.
I'm using the download version. I did see The import file size is limited to 4MB while poking around. I have no idea how to tell the size of the file.
I would hope that between Fidelity and Turbotax, that there would be a work around.
I downloaded the CSV files from Fidelity and there is less than 3000 rows in the file. I'm not sure how that relates to the 10,000. The file size seems to be way under the 4MB mentioned above.
I sure hope Turbotax and Fidelity figure this out for next year. I don't know how many copies Fidelity purchases for their clients but I suspect more than a few. Fidelity also offers a discount.
I have a BUG in my Fidelity Investments 1099B Import / I did all the steps / Last step said- CONNECTION COMPLETE / SUCCESS WE GOT YOUR TAX DATA / YOU CAN NOW RETURN TO TURBO TAX , after that nothing, I have to go through the process over and over in an endless loop. Please help with this frustrating issue.
A technical service person at Turbotax was able to help me create an online return. We were able to import all of the 1099 forms.
We were then able to download the file to my laptop and open the return and all of my 1099 data was there.
The online version didn't import last years data so I now have one return with last years data and other input I made this year.
I need to figure out if there is a way to import last years data into the file with the imported data.
It appears there is a problem with the import process on the download version.
This has been way more complicated than it should be. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon. I need to take a deep breath and figure out my next steps.
It's not the browser that's the problem. It is the TurboTax software. TURBOTAX LINK TO FIDELITY ACCOUNTS IS BROKEN AND I CANNOT LINK AND IMPORT ANY OF MY FIDELITY OR FIDELITY-NETBENEFITS DATA.
I am using a recently updated CD version of TurboTax Premier 2022 loaded on my laptop. I have never had this issue before. One reason I use TurboTax software is so I can import my very complicated financial statements from UBS, Merrill Edge, and Fidelity. UBS and Merrill are working fine, but Fidelity has been broken for at least the last two weeks, when I FIRST reported the problem. At that time I spoke with a Fidelity agent, and he said that TurboTax was aware of the problem and should have a software update early March. WHERE IS THAT SOFTWARE UPDATE??????
PLEASE REPAIR YOUR SOFTWARE SO THAT I CAN IMPORT MY FIDELITY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS LIKE I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS!!!!!!!!! OTHERWISE, I WILL BE USING A DIFFERENT TAX SOFTWARE FOR 2023.
So happy for you you found someone willing to address the import problem!! Good luck getting the rest of your data in the correct places!
Thanks. Now I have to input all of the non Fidelity data that I had entered into a return before I hit the import wall.
I had my taxes 95% complete waiting for the Fidelity 1099s. I have to re-enter all of that information.
What fun! I hope Turbotax can locate the issue for others.
I called 800-446-8848 and asked for Technical help.
Please review the proposed solution regarding screen resolution in this thread.
My problem importing Fidelity 1099B transactions was resolved. I waited a week since posting and ran Turbotax program which performed system update. I switched to Microsoft Edge browser and made it the default. Cleared out the cache, set security to Basic, turned off Pop up Blocker. There were no ad blockers or other similar apps installed since I don't normally use Edge. I went through normal Turbotax procedure again for importing and this time it worked. I don't know what the issue was but this is what I did. It did not previously import with Firefox or Brave Browsers. Hope the rest of you have the same luck as I did!
I wasn't so lucky. I was able to import before the 1099B files became available. I don't know how many transactions you have but there was a considerable pause before the Edge browser returned with the message that the transactions were imported.
I was hopeful but when I went back to TT, nothing had been imported.
I must admit that I didn't clear the cache. One shouldn't have to mess with their browser.
I am most of the way to enter all of the data that I had entered before I tried to import. That seems like a lot longer than it was.
I have two 1099Bs that are rather long. One is close to 250 pages.
I hope others post if using the Edge browser fixed their problem or didn't.
I only have so much energy to keep fighting this problem.
Please clear the cache and delete the cookies on your browser, as both can be causing an issue.
Please let us know if the issue is still happening after doing both. @GLUA
