How to enter a stock sold short?

Short stock position held beyond the tax year filed.

After you enter the transaction, you should see the screen in the screenshot below.

When you enter a short position, you don't report anything until the year you close that trade.

@fanfare is correct; you do not enter anything relating to your short position until you buy to cover.
