Program says 1099-R section not ready, when will it be ready?

The Form 8915-E was recently released so if you are using TurboTax CD/Download version be sure to download the latest updates. In a walk-through this message is not coming up.

  • Using the top menu select Online > Select Check for Updates

There can be state issue involved with the Form 8915-E,  for those, due to the coronavirus, received a distribution that qualifies for favorable tax treatment.  Some conform to the IRS rules while others do not, so continue to review your return as the results will change when ready.

 

Here are the steps to follow and review to be sure the questions are answered correctly.

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account 
  2. Click on the Search box on the top and type “1099-R
  3. Click on “Jump to 1099-R” you should see the “Your 1099-R Entries” screen and will click "edit"
  4. Continue until "Tell us if any of these uncommon situations apply" screen
  5. Select "I took out this money because of a qualified disaster (includes COVID-19)"
  6. Answer the any question.
