I have more than 45 entries for Schedule E

There is a max of 45 rentals you can efile. Which is 15 schedule E x 3.
I found an old answer that has ways to enter more into the Desktop versions........
If TurboTax only allows 45 houses, I see 4 options:
(1) Make the election to “group” some houses into one asset. HOWEVER, that can be problematic when you sell the houses. I would not advise that option unless you consult with a tax professional about it.
(2) Fill out the last 5 houses manually on Schedule Es, and override Line 17 on the 1040 to reflect the ‘extra’ forms that you manually did. HOWEVER, overriding in TurboTax voids their guarantee, and you would NEED to make sure the other numbers on the form adjust appropriately from the override. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040se.pdf
(3) Use professional software. HOWEVER, you need to be very familiar with how a tax return works. Professional software does not give you step-by-step questions. You need to know what to enter and where. https://accountants.intuit.com/tax/proseries/professional/ppr.jsp
(4) Go to a tax professional. I suspect that is what you may have done in previous years. With 50 rental houses, I would suspect it is quite expensive to hire a professional.
As a side note, except for option #1, you will not be ableto e-file. The IRS has an e-file limit of 15 Schedule Es (3 houses per Schedule E). You would need to file by paper and mail it.
Thank you Volvogirl for the reply. Since I have many more schedule E entries than 45, I cannot e-file with turbotax or the IRS. I was hoping that someone had figured out how to make turbotax accept more that 45 Schedule E entries.
I printed the first fifteen pages (45 separate houses) of Schedule E pages, then reused the last page of Schedule E by deleting info and re-entering 3 new houses, printing a page at a time. I then could override Schedule E page one with the totals that I had manually calculated. I also had to override the 1040 form. The override button is my only salvation. I can live with the override button. I still cannot believe that turbotax limits you to 45 entries on Schedule E, even if you cannot e-file it. You should be able to have turbotax complete your return.
They have known this for years.
H&R Block Small Business software does allow you to keep entering new properties past 45 but you have to MAIL your taxes in.
I was forced to switch years ago. I would love to switch back but Turbo tax doesn't care. Probably only 1 in Million people have that many rental properties and won't got to a professional.
I realize this topic is over 3 years old now but I'll jump in with another solution. I faced this issue over 20 years ago when TurboTax only allowed 10 Sch E. I tried converting to H&R Block but the "conversion" was a nightmare. Long story short, I use ProSeries "pay as you go" software. It's a lot more expensive than TurboTax plus you have to pay for each return. But it's far, far less than paying an accountant. The conversion was flawless.
Every tax software I know of only allows 45 rental entries (15 Schedules E, 3 entries on each) if you want to eFile. Until the IRS changes its electronic filing acceptance policy, this is likely not to change.
