If an owner-occupied rental had the renter move in a few months after the owners, should I list the days without a renter as days of personal use?

We (the owners) moved in to the owner occupied rental in May, and the renter moved in in August. Shouldn't the months before the renter moved in be considered as personal use?

Perhaps.  If the owner moved out and beginning in August the renter or tenant moved in then you would NOT count any personal days of use.  You would simply say the rental was converted from personal use to business use on August...., 2021. The unit is considered used 100% rental or business use from the time the renter/tenant moved in. In this case there is no personal use days.

To clarify, the owner is still living in the home and a renter moved into one of the bedrooms in August. Would there still be no personal days of use?

No, there would be personal use for the property for the time that the room was not rented, with the rental beginning when the room was first rented.

Here is a TurboTax help article that will guide you on how to enter your rental room.
