I received 3921 for stock options exercised in 2015. Paid the taxes in my '15 tax return. Sold the cert in 2016 and received 1099-B. How do I reflect that in '16 return ?

I received Form 3921 i to reflect stock options exercised in Nov 2015 and a paid the taxes in my 2015 tax return (the information was also included on my W2) . I received a stock certificate and sold/surrendered for payment the certificate in early 2016. I received a 1099-B for the sale. How do I reflect that in my 2016 tax return ?  Thanks.

TurboTax will walk you through how to enter the transactions.  To do so, while logged in and working on your account:

  • Click on Search
  • Type “1099-B“ in the Search Window and hit Enter
  • Click on Jump to 1099-B
  • Click on Add More Sales
  • Answer Yes to: "Did you get a 1099-B or a brokerage statement for these sales?"
  • Mark "I'll type it in myself" and click on Continue
  • Enter your Brokerage name
  • Click on the blue link that says "What if I sold employee stock?" for information.
  • Mark the button that says "I'll enter one sale at a time"
  • Enter the information from your 1099-B, then click the blue button that says "Guide me step-by-step"
  • Continue to report your sale of option shares of stock.
