I'm starting over in Investment Income and deleted everything. Now, with nothing entered, it is still showing a mystery $12 of investment income. Where is this from?

Originally, I had a 1099-INT with $12 in income reported. At final review, TT asked me to reenter the interest income. I suspected it had been added twice. After deleting everything, including the 1099, the extra $12 is still there, confirming my suspicion. Possible bug in Turbo Tax.

dan_c_carlson,

Does, indeed, sound suspicious.  Try logging out, closing your browser, and logging back in.  If that doesn't clear the deck, let me know and I'll forward to the powers that be to dig into it.

Thanks for the response. I did as you suggested, logged out, closed the browser, and logged back in. The mystery $12 in investment income is still there. It would be nice if there was a 'clear the deck' button!

dan_c_carlson,

As a former software engineer, I hate to leave a bug outstanding but ee-ea 's suggestion is definitely the way for you to go to move ahead.  The residual nonzero interest after clearing would most probably find itself categorized at a relatively low priority due to its rarity and seemingly low impact.  I will, though, attempt to reproduce and report it.

hbl3973,

As a mechanical engineer, but working in the cyber realm (CSSLP), I figured Intuit might be interested in the bug, but I am moving forward with @ee-ea's solution. I was able to wipe the whole slate clean and start over. Just sucks that I lost all the stuff that was entered correctly. I'm sure the extra $12 was from a 1099-INT that initially was entered correctly, but TT flagged it on final review and had me re-enter the $12 a second time. When I did my own calculations to check TT's numbers just before filing, I noticed the numbers didn't add up. After deleting everything in the dividend and investment income section, that 12 bucks was still there. Weird!

No, I didn't have a form K-1. I'm sure it has something to do with my 1099-INT. There was $12 of interest income reported on that form. That's also the amount of the mystery investment income after deleting all entries from that section (including the 1099-INT). No way that's a coincidence. 🙂
