I'm at a halfway house that requires that I pay Room and Board since I am employed. For tax purposes, can this be considered paying rent?

I suppose the "room" portion could, but rent is not a deductible item for federal income tax purposes. Depending on your state of residence, there may be a rent credit of some type on your state income taxes.

The portion of your payment that represents "board" is not deductible for federal or state purposes, as meals are considered a personal expense.

Best of luck to you as you continue your journey.
