Why did you not depreciate assets in 2019? Is it because you did not place the property in service until 2020? If yes, then that's why the "workaround" doesn't work for you. You have nothing to "work around". Please confirm when you placed the property in service as a rental, and I'll try to help here.
For what it's worth I did depreciate and enter the correct values per the KB and still get the prompt. If I skip it and say fix later my return shows no error and ready for submission.
I spoke to two support reps and the conclusion in my case is there is no error, and I can disregard the prompt.
Before you submit, print out the 4562 and make sure you agree with the values under the column for prior year's deprec. and current year deprec. Better safe than sorry.
