Forward from 2021 to 2022?  Or from 2022 to 2023?

Enter a Capital Loss Carryover from 2021 under

Federal Taxes or Personal (Home & Business)

Wages and Income

Then scroll down to Investment Income

Capital Loss Carryovers - Click the Start or Update button

You enter the full amount that carried over, not just the 3,000

If you used TT, last year, that happens automatically. Check lines 6 and 14 on Schedule D.

Otherwise, In TurboTax (TT), enter at:
- Federal Taxes tab (Personal in  Home & Business)

 - Wages & Income

Scroll down to:

-Investment Income

   -Capital Loss carryover

If you used TT last year, the boxes will be pre-populated with the carry over from last year.

Hi - I've used Turbotax for years, and now in '23 its asking me about capital loss carryforwards. I have a lot and they should be here from last year. However, nothing is here in the '23 return. This can't be right, this should all be here. Is this a software problem (clearly it is), and how can I fix it?

@TahoeJeff  What version do you have?  If you are in the Online version you need to use Premium to enter investments.   If 2022 didn’t transfer over you might be in the wrong account or transferred from the wrong file.

Hi thanks for the note, no I'm on Desktop and always have been. I'll have to track it down manually and enter that way. Hard to even find where to ask a question now, its become a game of hide and seek from the customer. There are many function not supported and I've long lost my patience with this junky software. I really just need to bite the bullet and leave, now that I've suffered through 6+ years of not supporting QOZ's and other tax laws. Good luck to you -
